Today is my birthday. (boo, hiss) Normally, on my birthday, or sometime shortly before or after it, I usually buy myself a new firearm. This year, I'm going to buy a new (meaning used) car.

But, if I have enough left over from my income tax refund, I will buy myself a firearm too.

Hopefully, I'll have something more substantial to post a little later on.....presuming I don't get drunk off my ass, and fall in a ditch. :)

HOMICIDE DROP WHILE GUN OWNERSHIP RISES SHOWS ANTI-GUNNERS WRONG, SAYS CCRKBA

BELLEVUE, WA – This week’s revelation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that homicide is no longer among the leading causes of death in the United States – at a time when gun ownership is at an all-time high – shows that the gun ban lobby has been wrong, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

“The CDC’s report for 2010 that removes homicide from the top 15 leading causes of death in this country coincides with a period of record high gun ownership,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “At the same time, increasing numbers of citizens have obtained concealed carry permits and licenses. This is pretty strong evidence that rising gun ownership does not translate to more violence and murder.”

Gottlieb, co-author of the newly-released SHOOTING BLANKS: Why Facts Don’t Matter to the Gun Ban Crowd with Dave Workman, noted that the CDC has long been a source of data exploited by gun prohibitionists.

“I wonder how anti-gunners will try to spin this report,” he mused. “Gun control extremists will have a hard time explaining how, after years of repeated predictions and warnings that more guns in private hands will result in more mayhem, that homicides are no longer among the top causes of death in the United States.

“Gun banners can’t have it both ways,” Gottlieb continued. “If the data had shown murders on the increase, you can bet your life savings that they would be screaming ‘We told you so!’ on every front page in America.”

Gottlieb said the CDC report is just one more demonstration of how wrong anti-gunners have been in their campaign of fear against private gun ownership.

“This new information correlates with national crime trends over the past few years, showing declining violent crime while gun ownership has increased,” he concluded. “You simply can no longer demonize gun ownership or the Second Amendment as a leading cause of crime.”

To clarify, Florida is a Right-to-Work state and Connecticut is not. Which may be why the UAW is so concerned about keeping jobs in the anti-business state:.

Colt Manufacturing Co. announced earlier this month it is bringing 63 jobs and a new regional headquarters and product manufacturing center to Kissimmee, Fla., next year.

Of course, Colt’s move may also have more to do with the hostile nature Connecticut has toward businesses, or the largest tax increase in the state’s history that was just imposed in June.

I know this blog is mostly about guns, but sometimes, it has to be more.

The latest "alert" on American Family Association's OneNewsNow website is about Gays in the military seeking EQUAL recognition for marriage rights. First, Gays and Lesbians weren't "good enough" (make that moral enough) to fight for our country. Now, those that fight for our country, aren't entitled to the same rights as the straight community is. When will this blatant new form of "racism" end? Yes, I said racism. while not strictly a separate race, the LGBT community is being treated pretty much like African-Americans were 50+ years ago. Actually, in many ways, worse.

A little over half a century ago, in some areas, it was illegal for Blacks and Whites to marry one another. Until President Truman changed it, Blacks in the military were mostly segregated with a few exceptions. (Most cooks on navy ships were Black.) Quite honestly, I'm surprised someone isn't calling for segregated units now, putting all Gays and Lesbians in their own units. I guess maybe I shouldn't give them any ideas.

I get it that for the most part, when most of the highly prejudiced straights out there think of Gays and Lesbians, and other, non-traditional (in a sexually oriented way) people, they think of the flamboyant types you see most often in the Gay pride parades. However, I would say that for the most part, those are the minority in the LGBT community. Most live a quiet life, unobtrusive, and for the most part, unnoticed. And, along with the flamboyant ones, STILL denied some of their basic human rights.

Complain about it all you want, I don't care. The LGBT community has just as much right as the rest of you to be married, and live in total abject misery for the rest of their lives, if that's what they really want. The idea that allowing same sex marriage will cause the downfall of this country or civilization is total and complete, utter BULLSHIT!

And before any of you reply, bringing up those pedophiles in NAMBLA, please don't bother. Those deviants should all be taken out and shot, several times.

The above is simply my opinion. If you don't like it, tough titty said the kitty but, we all gotta suck it.

Federal appeals court backs
Obama's health reform law

A federal appeals court today upheld key provisions of President Barack Obama’s landmark health reform law, ruling that Congress can require Americans to buy health insurance or face penalties.

The Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals upheld an earlier decision from a federal judge in Detroit, who found that Congress did not overstep its constitutional authority in requiring most people to buy insurance. That was the argument made by the Thomas More Law Center, an Ann Arbor-based Christian legal center that had challenged the health care reforms along with four plaintiffs.

U.S. District Judge George Caram Steeh ruled against the law center and refused to issue an injunction to halt preparations for putting federal health reforms into full effect in 2014.

Federal judges in Washington and Virginia also have upheld Obama’s health care reforms. A Florida judge, though, has ruled against it. Attorneys general from 12 states, including Michigan, are also challenging the health care reforms. The issue is expected to eventually reach the U.S. Supreme Court.

In other words, we are NOT Citizens of the USA, we are subjects, and Obama is the king.

A small setback for Open Carry and Freedom in Michigan

For those of you who were not aware, there was a case in Ingham County Circuit court, Michigan Open Carry, Inc. (MOC), vs. Capitol Area District Library (CADL). MOC's contention was that CADL did not have the authority to ban open carry of firearms in it's libraries, as CADL was created by various local units of government, and answered to the same.

CADL's position is that they are an "authority" and are not mentioned specifically in Michigan's Preemption law, which forbids local governmental bodies from creating firearm laws stronger than the state. And if that didn't work, CADL also claimed they fit into the list of Pistol Free Zones, as they are sometimes used by schools, and they claim they lease their property from a school district. For reasons unknown currently, they dropped that claim in court.

CADL also proposed that openly carrying a firearm in a holster was "brandishing," under Michigan law.

Judge Rosemarie Acquilina, apparently went with her feelings, and not the law. She had made her pre-disposition to this case known earlier, when she granted a temporary injunction against openly carried firearms several months ago. This injunction is now permanent, at least until the appeals process is exhausted.

The judge did not rule that OCing of a firearm was brandishing, so I guess CADL lost that count.

As I understand it, OCing in a CADL library is out now. Concealed carrying is still OK... so far. I guess we'll see how long that lasts.

Judge Acquilina, it's long past time for you to step down. When you let your feelings get in the way of the law, you are no longer a fair and impartial judge. Do the state of Michigan a favor, and step down NOW!

Equality Matters twisting the truth to fit their agenda

The National Rifle Association (NRA) dropped the law firm King & Spalding shortly after the firm announced their decision to not defend the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) on behalf of the U.S. House of Representatives. King & Spalding had previously represented the NRA on important cases, including the Supreme Court decision McDonald v. Chicago.

King & Spalding announced late last month that they would not defend DOMA after pressure from groups suggesting the firm's work on DOMA would be in violation of their own non-discrimination policies.

Now you might ask, if not because of their dropping DOMA, then why? Well, actually, it is because they dropped defending DOMA, but not for the reason you think. It's because they caved under pressure, to drop a client.

So who's to say they wouldn't cave in again, and drop the NRA? The leadership at the NRA doesn't want a law firm that will drop clients at least little pressure. They need legal representation that will stick with it for the long haul. And apparently King & Spalding is not that firm.

The NRA, as an organization is NOT Anti-GLBT. While there may be some individuals within the NRA that are, the organization is not. When the Cease Fear/Pink Pistols Seattle chapter was first starting up, the NRA, SAF and other pro-2A groups gave full support, including financial to that chapter.

The thing to keep in mind with "Equality Matters" is they are part and parcel of Media Matters. A far left wing media watch dog. People who make it their business to stretch the truth to fit THEIR perspective. In other words, it's a lie.

Philly Police Harass, Threaten to Shoot Man Legally Carrying Gun

A story in today's Philadelphia Daily News shows why it's so important that citizens be allowed to videotape cops - it can be citizens' only way to fight back against police abuse of power.

This incident happened several weeks ago in Philadelphia to Mark Fiorino, a 25-year-old IT worker who carries a gun on his hip at all times for self defense. He got the gun after several friends were mugged.

But he didn't count on attacks by police:

On a mild February afternoon, Fiorino, 25, decided to walk to an AutoZone on Frankford Avenue in Northeast Philly with the .40-caliber Glock he legally owns holstered in plain view on his left hip. His stroll ended when someone called out from behind: "Yo, Junior, what are you doing?"

Fiorino wheeled and saw Sgt. Michael Dougherty aiming a handgun at him.

What happened next would be hard to believe, except that Fiorino audio-recorded all of it: a tense, profanity-laced, 40-minute encounter with cops who told him that what he was doing - openly carrying a gun on the city's streets - was against the law.

Some observations on Canadian Gun Law

The following came from one of the many email lists I subscribe to. It struck me as something that needed further exposure, so I copied it here with just a few minor changes, mostly for spelling and/or grammar, where I thought necessary. (Comments by the original poster are in red.) The original started out with:

Here in Canada our government does not have a monopoly on justified self-defense, but they sincerely believe they should have a monopoly on all effective tools of self-defense!

While we ostensibly have here the legal mechanism for the carrying of a pistol to be allowed, only fourteen such 'carry permits' have ever been actually issued in the entire country, with a population of over thirty million! Virtually all such applications are arbitrarily rejected by isolated bureaucrats, with never an explanation.

There are some permits issued for 'wilderness carry,' but only to licensed guides, and, even then, they have to endure their own bureaucratic circus.

For us peons, one not only needs a license to possess a 'restricted firearm,' a category which includes all pistols and many rifles (all ARs, for example), the applicant must, in excruciating detail, chronicle to the government such irrelevant facts as his personal romantic history and also go through an interminable approval process prior to taking delivery of the gun.

Still with me? We're not through yet!

He must also be a member, in good standing, at a 'club,' and be vetted for an 'authorization to transport,' which allows him to take his pistol between his house and the range 'via a direct route,' unloaded, and secured in a double-locked box.

The most minor, insignificant infraction or paperwork glitch, your fault, their fault, doesn't matter, and you will find yourself charged with a criminal offense. Your home will be invaded, all your firearms will be seized, and the crown attorney will enforce a lifetime firearms prohibition against you, even when you are found not guilty!

After all that, getting your guns back from the police is nearly impossible, even with a court order. When you do finally re-claim them, they will be little more than a pile of rusted junk!

Even carrying a knife can make one vulnerable to charges of 'weapons dangerous to the public peace' or 'carrying a concealed weapon.'

OC is prohibited, at least for the purpose of use against humans. It may be carried for use against animals. Here, it is always called 'dog repellent,' by law.

Our gun laws are, in fact, based on fat politicians, sitting safe and secure behind an army of personal bodyguards (all heavily armed), intently watching cheesy Hollywood movies! In fact, many firearms are prohibited by 'order in council,' and, when you read the list, it is painfully obvious that such prohibitions are based solely on appearance. That is why we can't have AKs, FALs, ARs, and AUGs, but XCRs and Tavors are okay, at least for now, since they've come on the scene relatively recently."

Comment: The foregoing are the kind of "reasonable" measures liberal politicians constantly push for. They never get specific, of course. Autocrats never do! But, this is the practical result of their never-ending assault on our personal freedom. When they can't prohibit the private ownership of guns outright, they'll, in effect, have the same practical result through bureaucratic regulation.

They love to hypocritically talk about our "right to personal, unilateral, self-defense," but then deny us any possibility of exercising that right!

They live to lord it over people. That is the only thing that really motivates them, and ever has!

However, there is some good news:

We are turning things around up here!

The draconian, failed-at-every-level, 'system' we currently have in place was put there by governments of the 80s and 90s, consisting mostly of elitist, geriatric, flower-children who, like Socialists/Communists everywhere, never earned an honest dime in their lives!

Back then, gun owners did not have a strong voice. The by-word in Ottawa was 'social engineering,' as they attempted to smother the life out of us us with interminable laws and 'regulations,' enforced by an army of erstwhile unemployed bureaucrats who worried infinitely more about keeping their jobs than they ever did about doing them.

Things have changed! Debate about the private ownership of firearms has become the most polarizing issue in our current political landscape. Our side is now politically active, alert, and has excellent communication. We are now a powerful symbol for the new direction in which our country is heading.

Virtually all current Leftists in government are still overtly in favor of yet additional restrictions on private gun ownership, in spite of its amply demonstrated failure to reduce violent crime, or, for that matter, even to be administered intelligently.

Last Friday (25 March, 2011), these very Leftists were toppled in a non-confidence motion, which automatically triggered an election. This spring, we are likely to see a Conservative majority government that has promised to turn Canada away from the Liberal/Socialist/Communist trend that began in the 1970s.

We have promised to hold their feet to the fire!

Comment: The biggest problem Leftists have, no matter where they are, is personal vanity and arrogance! They invariably think they deserve to be kings, and that we peons exist only to serve them.They just can't admit to themselves that they're wrong, have always been wrong, and have never been anything but wrong.

They will accept no species of correction. The are absolutely incapable of repentance. They would rather die!

I would just like to add, at one time, I considered moving to Canada. It is a beautiful country, and I have a great affection for many things, Canadian. But, after researching their gun laws, it occurred to me that I could not live the same life there, that I have here. So for now, for me, Canada is a great place to visit, but I just cannot live there, knowing my God-given/Natural right to self defense is severely denied there.

So, Big Gay Al is driving down the road in his big Pink car, when he's pulled over by Michigan State Police for color violation. (No pink cars allowed on the highway on Sunday, part of a new agenda by the extremist religious zealots.).

As required by Michigan Compiled Laws, Big Gay Al informs the officer that he has a Michigan Concealed Pistol License, and he is packing. The Rest of the conversation goes like this:

MSP officer: Ok, what do you have, and where is it?

Big Gay Al: I have a .45ACP 1911 on my right side, in a hip holster, a Taurus PT92 9mm under my left arm, in a shoulder holster, a Makarov in the small of my back, and a Ruger .357 magnum in the glove box.

MSP officer: Is there anything in the trunk?

Big Gay Al: Oh yeah, the Yugoslavian SKS. Sorry, forgot about that.

MSP officer: Are you going to the range or something?

Big Gay Al: No, just to my sister's house, then the store.

Open Carry in Lansing, MI (Part 2)

CADL Granted Restraining Order Against Michigan Open Carry
The Capital Area District Library makes a move to help keep guns out of their building. On Wednesday they were granted a temporary retraining order by the INgham County Circuit Court against members of Michigan Open Carry or anyone affiliated with them......

...One of the attorneys for CADL, Gary Bender, said that CADL's goal is to maintain a safe, gun free zone for children and adults who frequent the library....

The last part I quoted above, shows a major flaw in their thinking. There is no such thing as a SAFE gun free zone. Gun free zones, by their very definition, are not safe. The only people who don't bring guns to a Gun Free Zone (also known more accurately as a Criminal Empowerment Zone) are law abiding citizens.

The sad thing is, the liberal weenies in charge of the CAD Library system, will never get it. They'll just keep pushing for "feel good" laws that will only make the library less safe, and they'll feel like they did a great service for the city, the state, and who ever else agrees with them.

In any event, until they remove their stupid "No Weapons" rule, I will not be using their library. I won't feel safe there, if I can't take my pistol with me.

Open Carry in Lansing, MI (Part 1)

...When told Tyler and Hofmeister open carry at the library for their own safety, (CADL Director Lance Werner) Werner said, “In my opinion, that’s utterly ridiculous.”

“I’m sorry he feels that way,” Werner said. “I hope he feels like he’s in some living room. That’s how we want everyone to feel.”

If you want to read the whole story, click on the title of this blog post. I only quoted the last 2 paragraphs, as I think they highlight a bigger part of the problem.

CADL Director Lance Werner says he wants us to feel like we're "in some living room." I don't have security guards in my living room, do you? Besides which, if I'm in my living room, where ever I am, there's my gun too. So, if he wants me to feel like I'm in a living room, then I should have my gun with me.

My gun has never been turned away from anyone's living room. Most don't notice it, and some of those that do, ask to see it.

This is not about feeling safe. If it were, everyone would be encouraged to carry a gun. It's about control. Government control of the citizens. MOC and other Open Carry groups across the country are trying to get people used to seeing law-abiding citizens openly carrying firearms.

Now, I'll grant that Tyler's OC of a shotgun in downtown Lansing was not the best idea, what's he supposed to do? Lansing PD has been dragging their feet on another issue that's delaying his being able to buy a handgun. His only real means of self defense in the meantime is a long arm. So, what's he supposed to do, go unarmed? That's what the government wants. His only legal recourse, currently is to OC a long arm.

I don't know if I'd do that, if I were in his position, but I'm not in his position now, so it's not fair of me to say. He has the right of self defense, and his only current legal means is a long gun, so I guess that answers that.

Back to the original point. Anti-Gun liberals always say one of the following, they either think they have the "right to feel safe" where ever they are, the right to not see a gun, or they have the right to feel as safe as they would in their own home.

Show me in the Constitution of the USA, or of any state where it says we have the "right to feel safe." You can't. So don't try. Liberals like to insert non existent rights into our constitution, and they'd like to take out some of the inconvenient rights, like oh, the 2nd Amendment, and the 1st amendment, when it gets in THEIR way. But that's how liberals treat all laws. They like them, until they get in the way of their agenda.

'Gay conservative' is oxymoron

CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, has been an annual gig for me for years. But this year I concluded it was not my place and I declined to participate in the various venues at the event for which I was invited.

Yes, the reason I declined was the inclusion of GOProud, a group identifying itself as representing "gay conservatives and their allies," as a sponsor of the event.

And it's the reason why some of the nation's most important conservative organizations -- the Heritage Foundation, the American Family Association, Concerned Women of America, Family Research Council, Media Research Center, and the National Organization for Marriage -- did not participate.

The founder and chairman of GOProud removed any doubt on my part that not participating was the correct decision by dismissing these groups as "losers," "clowns," and "not relevant."

I, of course, have been accused of being worse than a clown. The barrage regularly comes in from the left. But this is a first that I've had to listen to this kind of stuff from a group that postures as "conservative."

I became a conservative in church. I thought I was doing okay in my previous life -- scamming the welfare system, going to the beach, soaking in my welfare-subsidized hot tub, treating sex as a hobby, and abortion as birth control.

In our culture today that views material prosperity as the ultimate barometer of success, the truth is becoming unfortunately lost that the evil man can prosper. And if there is nothing more than what is before our eyes in this world, what does it matter?

When I understood how the culture of welfare state materialism was destroying not just my life, but also all of black America, there was no dividing line in my mind between "social issues" and "economic issues." The only dividing line I saw was between right and wrong, good and evil.

The idea of "gay conservative" is an oxymoron.

"Gay" is everything that "conservative" is not.

So, you can't be "Gay" and Conservative at the same time? Says who? Who makes the rules on that? If a Gay man or woman want to believe in God, country and honor, as well as the US Constitution, a smaller, fiscally responsible government, and the majority of other, traditionally conservative ideals, what would you call him or her?

I can tell you what the liberals would call such a person. "Fool," for taking sides with a movement that would deny them the right to marry whomever they choose. "Idiot," for joining sides with people who would cherry pick the bible, over things "they" think should be part of law. Part of a Christian "Sharia style law" if you will. If we did everything according to the rules set in the bible, over 1000 years ago, African-Americans would still be slaves. Once every 28 days or so, husbands of families would be sending their wives into exile until their menstrual period was over. No one would eat pork, and oh, no more cheese on hamburgers either. Of course, the good side, men could have more than one wife. I guess a little good does come with the bad, sometimes.

I don't agree with everything in the so called list of conservative ideals, but I do agree with the vast majority. Would you throw away my potential support, just because I don't agree with everything? Is it written somewhere that ALL conservatives have to agree on everything?

Frankly, I'm starting to think that the "compassionate conservative" is an Oxymoron. I'm not seeing very much compassion from the "mainstream" conservatives for their Gay and Lesbian supporters.

South Dakota Lawmakers Propose Mandating Gun Ownership -- to Make Point About Health Law

A group of South Dakota lawmakers has introduced a bill that would require almost everyone in their state to buy a gun once they turn 21.

Turns out it's not a serious attempt. Rather, the lawmakers are trying to make a point about the new health care law -- that an individual mandate is unconstitutional, whether it requires everyone to buy health insurance or, in South Dakota's case, a firearm.

Rep. Hal Wick, one of five co-sponsors, told The Argus Leader newspaper that he expects the bill to fail.

"Do I or the other co-sponsors believe that the state of South Dakota can require citizens to buy firearms? Of course not. But at the same time, we do not believe the federal government can order every citizen to buy health insurance," he said.

The South Dakota proposal would require anyone over 21 to purchase a firearm by Jan. 1, 2012, provided they are not legally disqualified from owning one. It would extend a six-month grace period for residents who turn 21 after the beginning of 2012.

Michigan House Bill 4009 and 4010

Michigan House Bill 4009 and 4010, introduced by Representative Richard LeBlanc (D), if enacted will repeal MCL 28.425o, eliminating all the pistol free zones, areas where those of us who have a Concealed Pistol License, are currently prohibited from carrying concealed. As it currently stands, we can legally carry in these so called "Pistol free zones," as long as we openly carry our pistols.

If these bills become law, we won't need to OC our firearms in those places, and consequently, everyone else there should feel more comfortable, as they won't see our guns anymore.

So, contact your state representative and ask them to support this bill.

CNN’s John King is attracting a lot of notice — and some ridicule — in the blogosphere for his on-air apology after a guest used the word “crosshairs” during a report on Chicago politics Tuesday. (The guest, a former Chicago reporter, referred to two rivals of mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel, saying Emanuel is “in both of their crosshairs.”) “We were just having a discussion about the Chicago mayoral race,” King told viewers. “My friend Andy Shaw…used the term ‘in the crosshairs’ in talking about the candidates out there. We’re trying, we’re trying to get away from that language. Andy is a good friend, he’s covered politics for a long time, but we’re trying to get away from using that kind of language. We won’t always be perfect, so hold us accountable when we don’t meet your standards.”

King’s statement comes after widespread discussion of whether Sarah Palin’s now-infamous “crosshairs” map targeting vulnerable Democratic candidates in last November’s elections somehow caused the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson January 8. There has been plenty of that kind of speculation on CNN, including on Tuesday, the day of John King’s statement, when one brief discussion of Palin used the word “crosshairs” five times.

Now, King says, CNN is “trying to get away” from such terms, suggesting that in the wake of the Tucson shootings, such language should no longer be part of the public conversation. But if Palin is to blame for using crosshairs in her much-discussed map, then CNN, by its own use of the allegedly inflammatory term “crosshairs,” might also share some blame for creating the atmosphere that led to the violence in Arizona. A look at transcripts of CNN programs in the month leading up to the shootings shows that the network was filled with references to “crosshairs” — and once even used the term to suggest the targeting of Palin herself. Some examples:

"Palin's moose-hunting episode on her reality show enraged People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, and now, she's square in the crosshairs of big time Hollywood producer, Aaron Sorkin," reported A.J. Hammer of CNN's Headline News on December 8.

"Companies like MasterCard are in the crosshairs for cutting ties with WikiLeaks," said CNN Kiran Chetry in a December 9 report.

"Thousands of people living in areas that are in the crosshairs have been told to evacuate," Chetry said in a December 21 report on flooding in California.

"He's in their crosshairs," said a guest in a December 21 CNN discussion of suspects in a missing-person case.

"This will be the first time your food will be actually in the crosshairs of the FDA," business reporter Christine Romans said on December 22.

"The U.S. commander in the East has Haqqani in his crosshairs," CNN's Barbara Starr reported on December 28, referring to an Afghan warlord.

"We know that health care reform is in the crosshairs again," CNN's Joe Johns reported on January 3.

Seven uses of "crosshairs" in just the month before the Tucson attacks, and just one of them referring to an actual wartime situation. And one reference to Sarah Palin herself as being in "crosshairs."

And not just Palin. On September 14, Mark Preston, CNN's senior political editor, referred to another controversial politician, Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann, as being "in the crosshairs." "Michelle Bachmann is raising lots of money, raising her national profile," Preston said on September 14. "She is in the crosshairs of Democrats as well."

It turns out Preston was back on CNN's air on Tuesday, discussing Palin's recent interview on Fox News. "We saw her on Fox News last night where she is a paid contributor," Preston said. "A kind of a friendly setting, but she defended herself from all the criticism that's been directed at her regarding a Web site that she had put out where she had used crosshairs over 20 Democratic candidates. Now a lot of people said that her rhetoric is inciting violence. She said that that is not true…"

"Crosshairs" again. Just for the record, CNN anchors, reporters and guests did absolutely nothing wrong with their use of the word in the last month and before. It would be impossible, at least for any reasonable person, to argue that the network's use of "crosshairs" in any of the various contexts it was used, was an incitement to violence by anyone, anywhere. But by announcing that "we're trying to get away" from "crosshairs" and other allegedly incendiary language, CNN is aligning itself with those who blame "rhetoric" for the killings. And by doing that -- plus inviting the public to "hold us accountable" -- CNN could open itself up to an examination of its own uses of the word and accusations that it helped create an environment that led to violence. Does that make any sense at all?

Disappointing, isn't it.

High court denies man's gun arrest appeal

WASHINGTON – Missing a plane connection cost Utah gun owner Greg Revell 10 days in jail after he was stranded in New Jersey with an unloaded firearm he had legally checked with his luggage in Salt Lake City.

Nevertheless, the Supreme Court without comment refused on Tuesday to let Revell sue Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police for arresting him on illegal possession of a firearm in New Jersey and for not returning his gun and ammunition to him for more than three years.

Revell was flying from Salt Lake City to Allentown, Pa., on March 31, 2005, with connections in Minneapolis and Newark, N.J. He had checked his Utah-licensed gun and ammunition with his luggage in Salt Lake City and asked airport officials to deliver them both with his luggage in Allentown.

But the flight from Minneapolis to Newark was late, so Revell missed his connection to Allentown. The airline wanted to bus its passengers to Allentown, but Revell realized that his luggage had not made it onto the bus and got off. After finding his luggage had been given a final destination of Newark by mistake, Revell missed the bus. He collected his luggage, including his gun and ammunition, and decided to wait in a nearby hotel with his stuff until the next flight in the morning.

When Revell tried to check in for the morning flight, he again informed the airline officials about his gun and ammunition to have them checked through to Allentown. He was reported to the TSA, and then arrested by Port Authority police for having a gun in New Jersey without a New Jersey license.

He spent 10 days in several different jails before posting bail. Police dropped the charges a few months later. But his gun and ammunition were not returned to him until 2008.

Revell said he should not have been arrested because federal law allows licensed gun owners to take their weapons through any state as long as they are unloaded and not readily accessible to people. He said it was not his fault the airline stranded him in New Jersey by making him miss his flight and routing his luggage to the wrong destination.

Prosecutors said it doesn't matter whose fault it was: Revell was arrested in New Jersey with a readily accessible gun in his possession without a New Jersey license.

Lower courts have sympathized with Revell but refused to let him sue the police.

"We recognize that he had been placed in a difficult situation through no fault of his own," wrote Judge Kent A. Jordan of the U.S. 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia. However, the law "clearly requires the traveler to part ways with his weapon and ammunition during travel; it does not address this type of interrupted journey or what the traveler is to do in this situation."

The case is Revell v. Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, 10-236.

I don't know what it's going to take, but we have to find a way to show our displeasure with the way legal, law-abiding citizens are treated in states, cities and towns who seem to think gun ownership is bad. After all, we are simply exercising our constitutionally protected right of self defense. We are a threat to no one, except maybe bad people.

So, I don't know about you, but for me, I am going to be looking to see if anything I buy comes from New York or New Jersey. And if it does, I won't buy it. And if given the opportunity, I'll pass on to the manufacturer WHY I'm not buying their products. I know, it's like throwing pebbles at an Abrams tank, but sometimes you do get their attention.

Tucson Shooting starts another "feel good, do nothing" gun control debate.

While I feel bad for the victims of Jared Loughner's Saturday shooting spree, I deplore it's use as a political weight to hang around the necks of law-abiding gun owners.

Representative Peter King (New York, R) is proposing a law to create a "gun free zone" around certain elected officials. This would have the effect of creating a roving GFZ* of 1000 feet around representatives, senators, and so on. Never mind that this law would NOT have deterred Jared Loughner. Never mind that this law would not have deterred Lee Harvey Oswald, Leon Frank Czolgosz, Charles Guiteau, or John Wilkes Booth.

Why, you ask? Simple, only law-abiding citizens obey laws. Criminals, including the assassins I named above would NOT obey any such law. Hell, it's against the law brandish a firearm in public, in most places, it's also against the law to discharge a firearm inside city limits. Loughner broke at least 2 laws before he killed anyone.

All these laws do is make the left "feel good," like they're doing "something" to fight crime, when in reality all they're doing is helping to disarm the law-abiding, and create more potential victims.

The really disappointing thing for me, this law is put forth by a Republican, and until a day two ago, someone I thought was a conservative. I guess I should have known better, he's just another politician, already campaigning for re-election.

Don't buy isk from THSale.com!!

In a slight change, I'm doing a favor for a friend. For those of you who don't know, EVE Online is an MMORPG, or Massively Multiplayer Online Role Play Game. I still haven't figured out why they call it a role play game, all you really do is fly around in space ships, shoot up everything, mine asteroids and build stuff. There's very little role playing that I can see. But there it is.

THSale.com is one of those websites that sell game money for real money. Most of the online game companies frown on the practice, even though they do it themselves. I guess they don't like the competition. Anyway, this friend of mine, has been playing EVE almost as long as I have. And like most of us in EVE, they have a real life too. Something that just interferes with their fun time, so much, they can't spend as much time making "isk" (this is what the money is called in EVE) as some of the players do. Mind you, some of the "players" are employees of some of the money trading sites. All they do is mine asteroids or ice fields which is processed and sold in the game for "isk." They do this either by macros, or what is more common now, people just sit and run the character to do this all day long. They then sell this game money to people for real money. Usually cheaper than what they could get the game money for if they did it through CCP.

Now, I'm not gonna go into great detail here. If you're interested in EVE, you'll find out via EVE's forums, and other methods as well. In any event, my friend has used this "illegal" service to get isk to buy stuff with. He finally got caught. Now, thanks to some stupid isk seller who used a hacked account to transfer the funds, my friend's bank account in EVE is negative over 9 billion isk. Needless to say, this will take a long time for him to fix. But, he's also out the money he spent to get that isk, and the company that sold it, isn't giving it back.

The kicker, if they hadn't used a hacked account, my friend would not be in the position he's in. Then again, if he hadn't been so weak, as to buy the stuff in the first place, he'd still not be in the position he's in. Anyway, if you look at the link to the title of this post, it will take you to THSale's faq. If you go to the bottom of that faq, you will find the following statement.

Will my account get banned if I buy from thsale?
Quite simply - no. We have never been informed of any account bannings of thsale customers due to their dealings with thsale. Take this as an example. Do not engage in Real Money Trading, in ANY game. Sooner or later, it will turn around and bite you in the ass.

Congenital Heart Failure, and The myth of invincibilty

Why is it, until faced with a life threatening disease, we consider ourselves to be invincible? I don't know about the rest of you, but that's how I felt, until last month. Now, I knew something wasn't right, because I had been feeling less than 100% for a while. I was getting out of breath on short walks, and I had trouble sleeping, unless I was practically sitting up.

And, like a lot of people, I put off going to the doctor. Partially because I thought I knew what was wrong, and partially because I was in denial. I figured it was pneumonia, since I'd had it before and new what it felt like, and this was really close to that. For the most part, I weathered the illness I thought I had, even managing to go to work, without calling in sick.

However, finally on October 10, I knew something was wrong, as I was having trouble breathing while just sitting still, at the computer. I decided then to go to the local urgent care. They ran numerous tests including EKG, and nothing showed up, but they could see fluid in my lungs, and the doctor there told me it was best to send me to the ER. So, off I went....in an ambulance.

I get there, and they do more tests, including an enzyme test that came up negative. However, other tests they did pointed to the extremely good possibility that I had Congenital Heart Failure. So, I get admitted to the progressive cardiac wing. After seeing a long string of doctors, I'm told they want to do a heart catheter. For those of you who don't know, they stick a camera up an artery in your groin to you heart to see what's going on.

Now, I've NEVER had any sort of surgery on me. Not even a broken bone, so this was a minor shock to my system. But I was assured that I'd get the right drugs, and that even though it was done with a local, I'd not feel it....much. Pretty much, they were right. I didn't really feel much pain, and was in good spirits for the most part. Until afterward when they told me I needed bypass surgery.

They found 4 major blockages that could not be fixed with a stent. Now, I knew what that entailed, to a minor degree. I have a relative who's gone through that. Which means, they take a vein from one of your legs, crack open your chest, including your sternum, and bypass the blockages. Typically, you're on a heart and lung machine while they do this.

So now I'm scared half out of my wits. And I just don't know what to do. Then one of the many doctors that had paraded through my room the past 48 hours tells me, "Ask questions, find out your options, don't take it at face value that this is what you have to do." His advice helped to make me feel more in control. So, I asked those questions and more, of the cardiologist, the surgeon, anyone that I thought might answer them. In the end, I agreed to have the surgery.

I have to say, in retrospect, it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I went to sleep, then work up, with tubes coming out of more places than I care to mention. But I was alive, and they told me the surgery went without any problems. I won't bore you with the details here. Let me just say the recovery was probably more painful than the operation. Specially when some of the tubes were pulled out.

But I have to thank the staff, nurses, doctors, Patient Care Techs and Physician's Assistants of Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan for the great care I received while I was there. I'm told they have one of the best cardiac facilities in the country. As far as I'm concerned, they are THE best in the country.

In closing, I'll just add, if you think, even remotely that you might have a heart problem, don't delay like I did, get it checked out right away. You might save yourself from having major surgery like I did. In spite of what we may think, we are not invincible.

One more item. Many of the doctors I saw and spoke to were Muslim. I don't know what country they were from, I didn't ask. But EVERYONE gave me good advice, and took excellent care of me. So to those of you out there reading this, who have some religious prejudice against those of other faiths, I say this: Get over it.

Another Reason to AVOID Philadelpia

The story below came from a certain 2A forum. I have made some minor changes for confidentiality. But in general, this story just goes to show how corrupt the police in Philadelphia appear to be, specially to those of us who lawfully exercise our 2nd Amendment rights.

Today I stopped in Best Buy on my way home to buy a music CD. While I'm browsing the CD's I'm approached by an older guy telling me I can't carry like that in Philadelphia. I asked him if he was a Cop or a Lawyer and he said No, so I told him. I know the Law. He proceeded to follow me around the store harassing me and then called the cops to report a Man With A Gun (MWAG), following me around giving them my description and our location etc. I pay for my CD, leave the store get in my work van to leave and he follows me all of the way out, gets in his car and follows me down the street. None of the Best Buy Employees said a word to me, and neither did anyone else. The store employees rang me up and that was all.

I get down the road a few lights and I'm pulled over by a Philadelphia PD car. I pull over immediately and he approaches my car with his gun drawn and says to me put your hands out of the vehicle. So I'm sitting there with my hands outside of the truck as he approaches me with his gun drawn and so it begins with the insulting "You're an idiot" "What do you think you are, John Wayne?" begins. 7 more Cops arrive and there's a total of 8. 3 cars and a van. In between their bullshit comments they open the door, unbuckle my seat belt and take my whole holster off of my right side.

They grab my arms and make me step out and Immediately begin searching the work van and my pockets. They take my wallet and take out my License To Carry a Firearm (LTCF) and my Driver's License. They're all insulting me and rambling nonsense that even disagrees with each other about how it's illegal to open carry in Philadelphia. A Sergeant arrives and has to tell them all, It's legal to open carry in Philadelphia. He tells them it was changed recently. (It's actually been that way for years) The sergeant also goes to the guy who was following and harassing me and tells him that recently it was changed to make Open Carry legal in Philadelphia.

They all stand around complaining about how they had to stop watching TV because of me (this asshole) and take turns telling me how stupid and irresponsible I am.

I'm standing behind my work van with my hands against the van for about 45 minutes and eventually they start to leave 1 by 1 and they run the Tag on my work van and ask me who's is it. I tell them it's "My companies delivery van" the cop said back "Not anymore". They said it's not registered so I asked to get the paperwork out of the Van. They let me and I show them the pink slip. They insist the van is not registered so they're going to impound it.

They write me two tickets. One says "Unlawful Tag Display" and the other says "Tag registered to a Dodge". About an hour later of standing there while they sit in their cop van watching their little TV they give me my tickets, a copy of the Live Stop paper, my LTCF, my License, my Glock (Chamber open, unholstered, they took all of my ammunition out of my two magazines and gave me them back in a pile) They told me they think Hollow Points are illegal and kept one of the rounds. (They're not illegal, except maybe in New Jersey.) They had to ask me if they were Hollow Points because apparently they didn't even know. They also never returned my Sunglasses which they snatched from my face in the beginning so they could "See who we're dealing with." and before I leave the cop tells me he's lucky the Sergeant was there or this wouldn't have happened this way.

If ******** did not have his encounter with PPD and have his gun stolen, then I would have been ******** and my gun would have been stolen.

Aside from training on the laws of Pennsylvania, it seems to me PPD needs to better train their officers on how to identify the various types of ammunition. I mean, my mother would know the difference between full metal jacket and hollow point ammo on sight. These cops must be half blind. Maybe that's why they stole the poster's sunglasses.

An old "love" returns home

The was the first major caliber handgun I ever owned. My mother bought it for me about 1975 or 76. I don't remember the exact year, but, it was a long time ago. I kept that one for a number of years, but eventually sold it. It wasn't until later that I realized the mistake I made. The Ruger revolver is one of the finest ever made. And after some searching, I finally found one. (Thank you Gunbroker.com).

Help save our heritage, The end of the USS Olympia

I don't know if this is going to go anywhere, but I'd like to make an appeal for help. We are about to lose a precious commodity, a piece of American history, if someone doesn't step up and do something. The life and death of the oldest steel warship still afloat, anywhere in the world is at stake.

Where are this country's millionaires and billionaires? Can't they step up to the plate and save this historic, sole surviving ship of the Spanish-American War? How about George Soros? He claims to love his adopted country. Can't he donate a teeny tiny portion of the money he floods into political campaigns, to help save this historic landmark? Or Bill Gates. What about him? Or how about the millions of quick made millionaires, those people who won lotteries all over the country. Can't they band together and keep this ship afloat?

We have until November 22, 2010, well, more likely until November 21, 2010. There has to be something that can be done. The Independence Seaport Museum has estimated they need about $30 million to keep it going for a time. Naturally, they'll need more later on, but I think if we found the donors, $30 million would save it from being turned into a coral reef.

Are we going to stand by, and let another piece of US history sink into the sea? When you compare the cost to so many other things, for some of the people in this country, helping to raise $30 million is just a drop in the bucket. If you want to help, try contacting Mr. Soros, and/or Mr. Gates. Bring this crisis to their attention. If you know any lottery millionaires, contact them. I don't expect them to come up with the entire amount as individuals, but if just 30 donated a million each, we'd have the money needed to save the Olympia.

If 60 donated $500,000.00 each, we'd have the money. If one thousand millionaires (those who actually have more than a million dollars, not the gov't standard of someone who makes $250,000 a year) donated $30,000.00, we'd have the money to save the ship.

Would we let this happen to the USS Constitution? How can we let this happen to the USS Olympia?

He does this with out right lies, innuendo, and taking Glen's comments completely out of context. (Just what you'd expect from a liberal left wing weenie.)

If you are a supporter of free speech, even if you don't always agree with Mr. Beck, (I don't always agree with him.) I would urge you to go to Mr. Carusone's site, and look for the list of remaining sponsors, contact them and let them know you still watch and/or listen to Glen Beck, and if they continue to advertise on his show, you will buy their products. If not, you'll boycott them for dropping his show.

LATEST FBI CRIME DATA CONTINUES TO REFUTE ANTI-GUN RHETORIC, SAYS CCRKBA
Monday, May 24th, 2010

BELLEVUE, WA – For the third year in a row, violent crime has declined in the United States while increasing numbers of American citizens own firearms and are licensed to carry, a trend that belies predictions of anti-gunners that more guns will result in more crime, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

Preliminary data from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report shows that the violent crime rate went down 5.5 percent in 2009, compared to statistics from 2008. This covers all four categories of violent crime: murder, robbery, aggravated assault and forcible rape. Violent crime went down 4 percent in metropolitan counties and 3 percent elsewhere, according to the FBI.

At the same time, the agency’s National Instant Check System reports continued increases in the number of background check requests and the National Shooting Sports Foundation has reported increased federal firearms excise tax allocations to state wildlife agencies, an indication that more guns and ammunition are being purchased.

“This translates to one irrefutable fact,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “There are more guns in private hands than ever before, yet crime rates have declined. In plain English, this means that gun prohibitionists have been consistently wrong. Higher rates of gun ownership have not resulted in more bloodshed, as the gun ban lobby has repeatedly forecast with its ‘sky-is-falling’ rhetoric.

“According to the FBI,” he continued, “the murder rate fell last year 7.2 percent in larger cities. Robbery declined more than 8 percent and forcible rape was down 3.1 percent. It might just be that criminals are less likely to attack someone out of fear their intended victim is armed. Robbers might be discouraged by the growing potential that the clerk behind the counter is willing to fight back. Maybe would-be rapists are deterred by the possibility that they might get shot.

“For many years,” Gottlieb observed, “anti-gunners made all kinds of wild predictions that higher rates of gun ownership and the expansion of shall-issue carry permits would leave neighborhoods awash in blood. The data proves otherwise. America should turn its back on the gun prohibition lobby and their insidious policy of victim disarmament.”

Government troops clash with civilians over gun control

BOSTON, April 19

- National Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache
of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed on
April 19th by elements of a para-military extremist faction.
Military and law enforcement sources estimated that
72 were killed and more than 20 injured before
government forces were compelled to withdraw.

Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor
Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction,
which was made up of local citizens, has links to
the radical right-wing tax protest movement. Gage
blamed the extremists for recent incidents of
vandalism directed against internal revenue
offices.

The governor, who described the group's
organizers as "criminals," issued an executive
order authorizing the summary arrest of any
individual who has interfered with the
government's efforts to secure law and order.

The military raid on the extremist arsenal
followed wide-spread refusal by the local
citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault
weapons. Gage issued a ban on military-style
assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the
week. This decision followed a meeting in early
April between government and military leaders at
which the governor authorized the forcible
confiscation of illegal arms. One government
official, speaking on condition of anonymity,
pointed out that "none of these people would have
been killed had the extremists obeyed the law and
turned their weapons over voluntarily."

"Government troops initially succeeded in
confiscating a large supply of outlawed weapons
and ammunition. However, troops attempting to
seize arms and ammunition in Lexington met with
resistance from heavily-armed extremists who had
been tipped off regarding the government's plans.

During a tense standoff in Lexington's town park,
National Guard Colonel Francis Smith, commander
of the government operation, ordered the armed
group to surrender and return to their homes. The
impasse was broken by a single shot, which was
reportedly fired by one of the right-wing
extremists. Eight civilians were killed in the
ensuing exchange.

Ironically, the local citizenry blamed government
forces rather than the extremists for the
civilian deaths. Before order could be restored,
armed citizens from surrounding areas had
descended upon the guard units. Colonel Smith,
finding his forces over-matched by the armed mob,
ordered a retreat.

Governor Gage has called upon citizens to support
the state/national joint task force in its effort
to restore law and order. The governor has also
demanded the surrender of those responsible for
planning and leading the attack against the
government troops. Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and
John Hancock, who have been identified as
"ringleaders" of the extremist faction, remain at
large.

Not so long ago and in a pasture too uncomfortably close to here, a flock of sheeple lived and grazed.

They were protected by a large, fighter dog, who answered to the shepherd, but despite his best lone efforts from time to time a nearby large pack of wolves would successfully prey upon outer fringes of the flock.

One day a group of sheeple, bolder than the rest, met to discuss their
dilemma. 'Our dog is good, and vigilant, but he is one and the wolves are many. The wolves he catches are not always killed, and the shepherd judges and releases many to prey again upon us, for no reason we can understand. What can we do? We are sheep, but we do not wish to be food, too!'

One sheeple spoke up, saying 'It is his fangs and claws that make the wolf so terrible to us. It is his nature to prey, and he would find any way to do it, but it is the tools he wields that make it possible. If we had such fangs and claws, we could fight back and stop this savagery.' The other sheeple clamored in agreement.

They went together to the old bones of the dead wolves heaped in the corner of the pasture where they gathered fangs and claws, sharpened them and turned them into very effective weapons.

That night, when the wolves came, the newly armed sheeple sprang up with their newly-acquired weapons and struck at the wolves, crying, 'Be Gone! We are not food!' They drove off the invading, hungry wolves leaving them most astonished!

"When did sheeple become so bold and so dangerous?" the wolves wondered. "When did sheeple grow fangs?" It was unthinkable!

The next day, flush with victory and waving their weapons, the armed sheeple approached the flock to pronounce their discovery. But as they drew nigh, the flock huddled together and cried out, 'Baaaaaaaadddd! Baaaaaddd things! You have bad things! We are afraid! You are not sheeple!'

The brave sheeple stopped, amazed. 'But we are your brethren!' they cried. 'We are still sheeple, but we do not wish to be food. See, our new fangs and claws protect us and have saved us from slaughter. They do not make us into wolves, they make us equal to the wolves, and safe from being eaten!'

'Baaaaaaad!' cried the flock, 'the things are bad and will pervert you, and we fear them. You cannot bring them into the flock!'

So the armed sheeple talked no more about their weapons, for they had no desire to panic the flock and wished to remain in the fold. But they resolved somehow never to return to those nights of terror, waiting for the wolves to eat them.

Beaten back, time and again with weapons of their own kind, in time the wolves attacked less often and sought easier prey. They had no stomach for fighting sheeple possessing fangs and claws like theirs.

Not knowing which sheeple had fangs and which did not, they came to leave sheeple out of their diet almost completely, except for the occasional raid from which more than one wolf did not return.

Then came the day when, as the flock grazed beside a stream, one sheeple's weapon slipped from the folds of her fleece. A cry of alarm went out from the flock -- in terror once again, 'Baaaaaad! You still possess these evil things! We must ban you from our presence!'

And so they did. The great chief sheeple and his council, encouraged by the words of their advisors, placed signs and totems at the edges of the pasture forbidding the presence of hidden weapons there.

The armed sheeple protested before the council, saying, 'It is our pasture, too, and we have never harmed you! When can you say we have caused you hurt? It is the wolves, not we, who prey upon you. We are still sheeple, but we will not be food!'

But the flock drowned them out with cries of 'Baaaaaaddd! We will not hear your clever words! You and your things are evil and will harm us!'

Saddened by this rejection, the armed sheeple moved off. They spent their days following the flock, trying from time to time to speak with their brethren, to convince them of the wisdom of having such fangs, but met with little success. They found it hard to talk to those who, upon hearing their words, would roll back their eyes and flee, crying 'Baaaaddd! Bad Things!'

The wolves kept up with the latest status of the sheeple through spies placed in and around their pastures. They decided to implement a false plan of appeasement and avoid attacks until a new and more successful strategy was developed.

The Council of the Sheeple, noticing the greatly diminished incident of attacks by wolves, and having such great fear of the "baaaaad things,' decided it would better serve the peaceful purposes of the flock to require that those in possession of such 'baaaaad things' sign a list of ownership for identification purposes.

This list helped the Council gain better control of who owned what whenever any of the 'baaaaaad things' got stolen or misplaced.

However, many of the sheeple -- who greatly feared the wolves -- refused to sign. Consequently, they hid their "baaaad things" from the rest of the flock by burying them underground.

Meanwhile, the wolves, still wounded from their prior foiled attacks, temporarily lost interest in the sheeple. They hunted and attacked easier prey elsewhere.

As a result, the Council, desiring to further the resultant peace, passed a law -- disregarding the objections of many -- that all 'baaaad things' be stored in cases with locks to prevent little lambs from playing with them, and thereby, getting hurt.

Consequently, those who refused to rely entirely on the shepherd and dog for their safety, insisted on their right of self-defense by maintaining the hiding of their "baaaad things" underground from the rest of the flock.

That night, the wolves visited the sheeple's totems and saw their signs. They exclaimed, "Truly, these sheeple are foolish, easy prey!

Brothers, let us feed!" They set upon the flock, and horrible was the carnage in the midst of the fold. The dog fought like a demon, and often seemed to be in two places at once, but even he could not avoid harm nor halt the ensuing slaughter.

It was only after some of the sheeple (though wounded and bloodied in the fight) -- at the peak of the battle, when all seemed lost -- successfully retrieved their buried, locked fangs and claws, and, thus, succeeded in warding off the hungry, invading wolves, causing them to flee.

However, some of the surviving sheeple reported to the Council that most unfortunately some of their brethren had been wounded, and in one instance, accidentally killed by armed sheeple in the battle.

So, in the morning, when the armed sheeple spoke to the flock, and said, "See? If the wolves know you have no fangs, they will fall upon you. Why be prey? To be a sheep does not mean to be food for wolves,' the rest of the flock cried out more feebly (for their voices were fewer, though with no less terror), 'Baaaaaaaad! These things are bad! If they were banished, we would be less likely to be harmed! Baaaaaaad!'

So the Council, at the urging of the remaining frightened flock, banned all fangs and claws, imposing severe penalties on anyone found in possession of same.

All the while, the blood-thirsty, snarling, vicious and drooling wolves remained on the edge of the pasture secretly waiting for the next time they could attack. The ravenous wolves knew that since the sheeple were peaceloving in nature and lacking in survival prowess (being demonstrably prone to foolishness), they would be so again. This they did, and still do.

In contrast, the armed sheeple -- having resolved to conceal their ever-ready, sharpened weapons from the remaining view-sensitive flock at all costs -- endured their fellow brethren's resultant fear and loathing. They even resolved to protect their brethren should ever the need arise, until the day the flock learned to understand that as long as there were hungry, ravenous wolves waiting to attack in the night, sheeple would need sharp fangs and long claws to repel them.

The armed sheeple would still be sheeple, but -- unlike their wolf-eaten brethren -- they would not become food!

Second Amendment applies to the States also, says WA State Supreme Court

While not actually finding for the appellant (Christopher William Sieyes), the justices did find that the 2nd Amendment applies to the state governments as well as the federal, via the 14th amendment's due process clause.

This should make next month's US Supreme Court's hearing of McDonald v. Chicago, very interesting. Will SCOTUS uphold the same convictions as the WA State Supreme Court, and find that the 2nd Amendmend applies to the states as well as the federal gov't?

Only time will tell.

Well, it took long enough, but it finally got here. This is the Armscor/Rock Island Armory FS Tactical M1911-A1 pistol. And yes, it's a .45ACP caliber pistol.

As soon as I get it "broken in," (500 rounds is the recommended break-in) it will become my carry weapon of choice. Assuming it operates as well as I'm told, by other Armscor/RIA owners.

Rush Limbaugh not good enough for the NFL? No, it's the other way around. The NFL is not good enough for Rush Limbaugh.

In case you've had your head buried in the sand the last couple of weeks, you may have noticed the flap over Rush Limbaugh's participation in a group of investors looking to buy the St. Louis Rams NFL football team.

This "little distraction" even went so far as the floor of the US House of Representatives, when congresscritter, Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) stuck her 2 cents into the controversy and "urged the NFL to not let Rush Limbaugh buy the St. Louis Rams." Don't they have other, more serious things to concern themselves with in Congress, than who might or might not become an owner in the NFL?

Then there is the lamentable comments by Commissioner Roger Goodell, who said on Tuesday, "we're all held to a high standard here, and I think divisive comments are not what the NFL is all about."

High standard? This from an organization filled with ex-cons, gang members, and of course, those addicted to steroids? Give me a break. Rush, if he hadn't been dropped from the group of investors, looking to buy the Rams, would have elevated the status of the the NFL, to something more respectable.

But we should not really be surprised by this latest attack on the conservative icon. From the office of President Barrack Hussein Obama, down to the lowliest, leftwing bloggers, Rush has always been attacked by those who would curtail the 1st amendment, whenever it doesn't suit their needs.

From the latest White House attacks on Fox News, it's obvious that there's a massive left wing conspiracy going on to silence all oppositional commentary. I think a lot of this stems from the recent revelation about ACORN, when it was shown that some of their members were advocating child prostitution.

I know there are some people who are calling for a boycott of the NFL because of the Michael Vick controversy. That's fine. I don't have a problem with that, and in fact, I think a boycott because of the sad way Rush Limbaugh has been treated is in order as well.

Whether you agree with Rush or not, does not matter. If this can happen to him, it can happen to ANYONE. Well, anyone who might be a Conservative that is.

The Open Carry Movement

For those of you who are not aware, Open Carry is sweeping across the country. At least, in those states where it is legal to do so. Interestingly enough, it's not legal in Texas!! Apparently this goes back to the post Civil War days (That's the War Between the States for you Southern sympathizers. ) I suppose this was to cut down on violence against the former slaves, as well as the occupation forces sent down by the Northern invaders.

I understand that now, Texas is looking into making Open carry legal again. Even for those in Texas with a CCW permit, this would be a welcome change, since as of now, if you have a CCW permit, and your pistol should become visible, you could face charges and lose your permit.

For myself, I live in Michigan, which is an Open Carry state. I have, and do carry openly, when I consider it practicable. However, I also know there are times and places when OC (the current shorthand for Open Carry) is either not prudent, or not practicable. (I like using that word, picked it from the movie "Gods and Generals" )

What I will add here is this, if you choose to OC, make sure you know the laws for your state, and local area, if applicable. It would be bad to end up in jail, just because you missed some rule about OC in your state. Check out OpenCarry dot Org for more details.

So here goes. I'm getting a new pistol soon. An Armscor Rock Island Armory 1911 Tactical pistol.

Yup, that's it. :) That's my baby to be. Anyway, that's all for now. I was going to post something about Obama Care, but decided not to. Maybe if I get more upset with things, I might in the near future.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Then again, maybe I should. A certain self-proclaimed Nazi, Phil Bredeson, says he works for the ACLU. He even has a blog on blogger. (click the title of this article to see it, if you really want to.) And in this blog, short as it is, he maintains that Adolf Hitler is his hero, that Gays and Jews are out to take over the world, and that he can't stand contrary viewpoints. Your basic fringe claims of "I like free speech, as it applies to me, but you don't get any" rhetoric.

He even posted a reply to one of my posts, regarding the ACLU. His reply, "F**k you, gun shooter." I didn't delete his reply, maybe I should. After all, this is my blog, not his, so I don't have to put up with his bullshit.

Frankly, even though I disagree with the ACLU, I've always held a certain level of respect for them. However, if this guy really does work for the ACLU, I may have to re-think that opinion of mine.

Follow up to Tennessee gun laws

It's come to my attention that some people think I'm critical of the new law in Tennessee that allows CCW holders to go into establishments that serve alcohol with their guns.

On the contrary, I think it's a GREAT change in their handgun permit law. People who take the time, trouble, and spend the money to get a permit so they can legally defend themselves from the bad guys (Who, by the way will NEVER obey a law that says they can't carry a gun) should be considered trustworthy enough to let them take their gun, ANYWHERE they are legally allowed to be.

And for those who think there are too many guns on the street, get the bad guys to quit packing, and I will too....nah, I lied.

I think it's silly to give someone a permit/license that says the can carry a gun to defend themselves, then turn around and say, "Wait!! You can defend yourself here, but not here. It's ok to carry your gun in this store, but not that one."

It kind of defeats the purpose, don't you think?

And no, I don't have anything better to do in Michigan right now.

Tennesseans Not trustworthy with guns in bars??

I sent an email to Nashville's channel 4, in regard to the story of Randy Rayburn trying to stop a new law going into effect that would allow those with a handgun permit (what ever it's called in your state, Concealed Pistol License in mine) to be able to protect themselves in establishments that serve alcohol. Below is the email I sent.

I've been reading, with great interest, your story on the attempt to stop the new law in Tennessee that would allow handgun carry permit holders to take their weapons into establishments where alcohol is served. I find it funny, as there are several states where this is already legal.

In my state of Michigan, I can take my pistol into any establishment that serves alcohol as long as they make less than 50% of their income from the sale of alcohol. Basically, restaurants. If I travel an hour or so south west, into Indiana, I can walk into a bar with my pistol there.

In Virginia, I can carry in those same places, but I would have to uncover and therefore, open carry my pistol. I'm told, I could even drink in the state of Washington. Not that I would. Drinking while carrying a firearm is a bad idea. In my opinion.

But I have to wonder, is there something wrong with Tennesseans that make them less trustworthy? Is that why Mr. Rayburn brought his suit and attempted to stop a law that's already in effect in more than a few other states?

Maybe this is the question that should be asked of him.

Our entire popular culture -- from fashion magazines to the cinema -- positively screams the matchless worth of the individual, and glories in eccentricity, nonconformity,independent judgment, and self-determination. This enthusiasm is reflected in the prevalent notion that helping someone entails increasing that person's "self-esteem"; that if a person properly values himself, he will naturally be a happy, productive, and, in some inexplicable fashion, responsible
member of society.

And yet, while people are encouraged to revel in their individuality and incalculable self-worth, the media and the law enforcement establishment continually advise us that, when confronted with the threat of lethal violence, we should not resist, but simply give the attacker what he wants. This, in addition to her racist remark in 2001,

I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life.

I'd say her belonging to an organization known as "The Race" (La Raza), should label her as racist. After all, if I or any other white person belonged to an all white org known as "The Race," we all know that we would be labeled as racist, and therefore, unsuitable to be seated on the Supreme Court of the USA.

Peter King (R-N.Y.), the ranking Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee, who calls himself "a strong supporter of the war against international terrorism, both at home and abroad," introduced H.R. 2159, calling it the "Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009."

Given the bill's title, one might think that it's intended to affect terrorists. However, King and the bill's co-sponsors—Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), Mike Castle (R-Del.), Jim Moran (D-Va.), Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.), Mark Kirk (D-Ill.), and Chris Smith (R-N.J.)—are extreme gun control supporters. Rather than being aimed at terrorists, H.R. 2159 is intended to give the executive branch arbitrary, unaccountable power to stop loyal Americans from acquiring firearms.

Imagine it's 1940, and picture Adolf Hitler speaking at a US university, receiving a polite reception, while Winston Churchill is barred from speaking because his safety cannot be guaranteed.

It's unthinkable, yet the very same pro-fascist dynamic is a reality in 21st Century America.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu comes to America knowing he is a second-class citizen who is denied the free-speech rights enjoyed even by prominent jihadists, having been violently prevented from speaking on campuses in the US and Canada in recent years.

Protestors at Berkeley, the campus once synonymous with the term "free speech," forced the cancellation of Netanyahu's speech there, as well as two subsequent speeches, in November 2000. The Jewish Bulletin of Northern California reported:

Hundreds of protesters shouting "Support the Palestinians, choose a side" and "No free speech for war criminals" blocked the gate leading to the Berkeley Community Theatre Tuesday evening, forcing the cancellation of a scheduled speech by former Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

Additional talks by Netanyahu that were scheduled Wednesday and Thursday in San Mateo and San Rafael were subsequently cancelled.

Waving banners reading "Zionism=Nazism" and "End U.S. aid to Israel," the crowd was estimated at more than 500 by the Berkeley Police Department and at 200 to 250 by observers...

Considering the current financial state that California is in, can't we just kick the whole state loose? After all, the state is both financially and morally bankrupt. I think it's time we let the People's Republic of California become their own country. We can make Puerto Rico the new 50th state. I think they're at least not so financially bankrupt as the PRCA is.

The ACLU seems to be ignoring the 2nd Amendment

The Second Amendment provides: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

ACLU POSITION
Given the reference to "a well regulated Militia" and "the security of a free State," the ACLU has long taken the position that the Second Amendment protects a collective right rather than an individual right. For seven decades, the Supreme Court's 1939 decision in United States v. Miller was widely understood to have endorsed that view.

The Supreme Court has now ruled otherwise. In striking down Washington D.C.'s handgun ban by a 5-4 vote, the Supreme Court's 2008 decision in D.C. v. Heller held for the first time that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to keep and bear arms, whether or not associated with a state militia.

The ACLU disagrees with the Supreme Court's conclusion about the nature of the right protected by the Second Amendment. We do not, however, take a position on gun control itself. In our view, neither the possession of guns nor the regulation of guns raises a civil liberties issue.

It seems that despite D.C. v. Heller, the ACLU still has their own world view of rights, and in their minds, the right to keep and bear arms is a collective right, not an individual right. They even like to misrepresent US v. Miller, just like the gun control groups do.

In actuality, US v. Miller simply said that a sawed off shotgun was NOT a militia weapon, and not subject to protection of the 2nd Amendment. But this shouldn't really surprise any of us. The ACLU is practically run by anti-gun types. So I expect this attitude to exist even if SCOTUS comes out and says the 2nd Amendment is an absolute individual right (Yeah, I know, don't hold your breath on this either.).

Still, it's nice to know who your friends, and who your enemies are. I think we all know what category the ACLU fits in.

Whether you agree with her or not, Miss Prejean is entitled to her opinions. I disagree with her opinion on Gay Marriage, however, I will defend to the death, her right to express those opinions. But it seems that we are fast losing our right to free speech in this country.

Senator Nazi Pelosi and Senator "Dingy" Harry Reid want to reinstate the (UN)fairness doctrine to put a muzzle on free speech. Mario Armando Lavandeira (Perez Hilton) wants to shut up those who oppose Gay marriage, and now, the California pageant wants to take away Miss Prejean's Miss CA title because of a "provocative" picture?

Someone tell me, what's so provocative about this picture? I've seen more skin in a Victoria Secrets catalog.

Now, just so we're clear, I'm not denying Mario's right to free speech. He has every right to say what he thinks. But so does Carrie Prejean. And so do I. And if you don't like it, tough.

The Supreme Judicial Court yesterday ruled that illegal gun possession is a "passive and victimless crime" and that those charged with having illicit firearms cannot be held without bail as a danger to society.

In a 4-to-1 ruling, the state's highest court rejected the law enforcement strategy of Bristol District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter to cut down on gun violence by seeking pretrial detention for every person charged with illegal gun possession in his jurisdiction, which includes New Bedford. Two days after the April 15th TEA parties, and the left-wing media and politicos STILL don't get it! Nancy Pelosi prefers to down play the TEA party as an "astro-turf" thing, and not Grass roots.

CNN prefers to see it as a GOP/Conservative/Fox News creation. And so it continues. I don't know what the organizers of the TEA party day have in mind for the future, but it seems obvious to me, they are going to have to do something else. It seems that getting 250,000 + people to show up at these rallies all across the country is not enough to show those in power that we mean business.

I hope that the organizers have further plans. This is just the tip of the ice berg.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele is under fire from social conservatives for telling GQ magazine that abortion is an "individual choice" and homosexuality is not. (To read entire story, click on title of this article.)

So, what is wrong with this statement? I mean, abortion is a choice. No one demands that any woman in America have an abortion. It's not mandatory......yet.

And, can anyone tell me, why would any man or woman CHOOSE a lifestyle that puts them in constant danger, regardless what their job is, or where they live? Ask yourself, would you choose a lifestyle that has you under harassment, threat of death, humiliation, and probably separation from your family?

The reason I ask, this is what generally happens to many in the GLBT community, when
you come out, are found out, or are outed by someone else to the public at large.

Yes, there are some exceptions, but for the most part, when you come out of the "closet," as the saying goes, you generally face much more pain and misery than if you don't. And any jack ass who thinks that being gay is a choice, hasn't thought the situation through,
at all.

A young student friend e-mailed me on Tuesday night.

"Have locked myself in my room because the place is full of little idiots -- who cannot spell Barack Obama's name and could not name one of his foreign or domestic policies -- running around screaming obscenities about George Bush, conservatives and how Sarah Palin is a bitch. I love democracy!"

Even so, the people spoke. A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups. A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere.

A victory for the cult of the cult. A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth. Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality.

A victory for Hollywood, the most dysfunctional community in the world. Victory for Streisand, Spielberg, Soros and Sarandon.

Victory for those who prefer welfare to will and interference to independence. For those who settle for group think and herd mentality rather than those who fight for individual initiative and the right to be out of step with meagre political fashion.

Victory for a man who is no friend of freedom. He and his people have already stated that media has to be controlled so as to be balanced, without realizing the extraordinary irony within that statement. Like most liberal zealots, the Obama worshippers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative.

Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of popular expression may well be cornered and beaten by bullies who even in triumph cannot tolerate any criticism and opposition.

WEAK TOWARD ENEMIES

A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers' unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity.

A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation. A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs.

Also a defeat for one of the weakest presidential candidates in living memory.

Why would anyone vote for a man who seemed incapable of outlining his policies and instead repeatedly emphasized a noble but, if we are candid, largely irrelevant war record?

He was joined by a woman who was defended so vehemently by her supporters when it was cuttingly evident that she is years away from being, and perhaps never will be, a serious candidate for senior national office.

Most of all it was a terrible defeat for democracy and the United States. A politician of nothing defeated a nothing politician and a credulous electorate screamed in adoration. I fear we will all suffer very much indeed.

I found this, looking for the London Daily Mail "story," called "British Editorial on Obama's Victory." Something about it, just didn't ring true to me. So I started checking on it. And I finally found the original story posted in the Toronto Sun. Which you can see if you click on the title of this blog post.

For CCSU student John Wahlberg, a class presentation on campus violence turned into a confrontation with the campus police due to a complaint by the professor.

On October 3, 2008, Wahlberg and two other classmates prepared to give an oral presentation for a Communication 140 class that was required to discuss a “relevant issue in the media”. Wahlberg and his group chose to discuss school violence due to recent events such as the Virginia Tech shootings that occurred in 2007.

Shortly after his professor, Paula Anderson, filed a complaint with the CCSU Police against her student. During the presentation Wahlberg made the point that if students were permitted to conceal carry guns on campus, the violence could have been stopped earlier in many of these cases. He also touched on the controversial idea of free gun zones on college campuses.

That night at work, Wahlberg received a message stating that the campus police “requested his presence”. Upon entering the police station, the officers began to list off firearms that were registered under his name, and questioned him about where he kept them.........(click on the title to read the whole story)

With absolutely NO EVIDENCE, (because all evidence that does exist, points to the
complete opposite of Mr. Helmke's insinuations.)

Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, which opposes open-carry laws: "We don't want more people carrying guns either openly or concealed because the more guns you have in a situation, the more likely you are to get gun violence."

WHAT is this guy's problem? Is he not getting laid? Does he not know how to read? Seems to me, he needs to get a life, or rather, get out and enjoy life, in stead of staying closed up, in that office, believing all the bull sh*t his "researchers" are feeding him, in that
deep, dank, dark hole, know as the Brady Campaign.

And yes, as a Concealed Pistol License holder, I do take offense at his words. I have yet to shoot anyone, since I got my permit, almost 6 years ago. (Don't ask me about what happened before that. )

But I'll be more than willing to listen to his apology......if he has the gonads to make one. (Which I highly doubt.)

Divorce Agreement between Liberal and Conservative America

I got this through one of the many 2nd amendment groups I belong to.

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al:

We have stuck together since the late 1950's, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a model separation agreement:

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.

We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell (You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them).

We'll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies and illegal aliens. We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood .

You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security.

We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values.. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N.. but we will no longer be paying the bill.

We'll keep the SUVs, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.

You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors. We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right. We'll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem. I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute Imagine, I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya or We Are the World.

We'll practice trickle down economics and you can give trickle up poverty your best shot. Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our flag.

Haven't We Learned Yet That Tax Cuts Do LITTLE To Stimulate The Economy (Apparently you haven't learned that tax cuts DO stimulate the economy.)

The whole reason we are in the economic perilous straits we are in right now, is the lunatic Republican fixation on tax cuts, (BZZZT!! WRONG. The WHOLE reason we are in this mess is the way the Democratic led Congress and Senate screwed up the Credit industry, insisting they make home loans to people who really couldn't afford it. IF you want some one to blame, look to Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank and who ever else was responsible for the Fanny Mae debacle.) which all competent economists (read left wing loon economists) agree are the WORST way to boost the economy. People need real jobs with real wages, and until they get them they will not have any taxes to cut. And until people have jobs, and are making money again, the economy does not have a prayer.

But even so, president Obama tried in a bipartisan way (Bipartisan my ass. The current Democratic version of bipartisanship is we make the laws and you sign on the dotted line, or else.) to build lots of tax cuts (and even more in Democratic pork) into the package for the Republicans to try to placate them, hundreds of billion of dollars worth. And what did the Republicans in the House do? They just spit in his face. Not ONE Republican voted for the bill, not one!! (THANK the GODS and GODDESSES!) All of the tax cuts need to come out, all of them, and be put into infrastructure building jobs instead. And then we'll have a bill that actually works for America.

People like Rush Limbaugh have said straight up they just want our new president to fail. (You obviously don't listen to the man, if you did, you'd know how wrong you are.) That's how much they hate America, (Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?) after all the damage they have done, they just want to do more. And whether the rest of the Republican party says it out loud or not, they just want to sabotage any possible recovery so they can seize power again. (You really are stupid, aren't you.)

So what's the point of crippling our own recovery plan with yet more tax cuts (Don't forget the pork that was put in too.) which have NEVER worked in the past, and which even the Republicans DO NOT support? Instead, we say take ALL the tax cuts out, and then let's have a national debate on why Republicans are obstructing the change(Change? Looks to me like business as usual, for a Democrat controlled congress and Senate that is.) that America voted for in such overwhelming margins. (I wouldn't call 53% to 46% an overwhelming margin. That's a difference of what? Four or five percent. A winning margin to be sure. But overwhelming? Hardly.)

We cannot depend only on the single chance of Attorney General Nominee Holder taking aggressive and righteous action. There has been entirely too much "sweep it all under the rug" talk in the White House transition. But there are nearly 3,000 county level state prosecutors in the country. (Who have absolutely NO JURISDICTION to file a case) (I think this next word should start with an uppercase "A." I mean, really, dude, get a spell checker or something.)and they aren't ALL complacent toadies. So as much of an improvement as Holder may be, only pressure from all flanks will compel him to act. And some state prosecutors, prosecuting their own cases, is just the formula.

It seems the entire corporate media is trying to sing the same song of inaction, to try to smear as being "hateful" anyone who loves and wants to restore the constitution. What a smear on the idea of upholding the rule of law to characterize anyone who thinks that monstrous war crimes actually ought to be prosecuted as just being out for "revenge". (Odd, I don't hear you crying about prosecuting the war criminals we have in Gitmo. Or is that just us seeking revenge?)

Friends, the same demons and their proteges who committed all the crimes which now so shame us will be back even stronger before we know it, unless Bush and Cheney are prosecuted now. Now we learn there was not a single member of the media who was not illegally and systematically wiredtapped. (I think they meant "wire tapped") We were that close to a totalitarian police state,(And with Obama in Office, we are only getting closer.) and we have but a small window of opportunity to keep from endorsing the crimes of the future, by prosecuting NOW (Really? You want to prosecute the National Organization for Women???) to the full extent and duty of the law.

Imagine what it would be like if we found just ONE crusading state prosecutor to respond to the call of destiny. Imagine what it would be like if a DOZEN or more suddenly sprang into action, because of our many letters, and phone calls, and faxes and emails. We can open up an whole new third front, and keep it open.

An open Letter to President Bush

Dear President Bush,

I'd just like to say "Thank You," for keeping us safe from further terrorist attacks after 9/11/01. For keeping the terrorist/combatant prisoners off our soil, in Gitmo. For ridding the world of a sadistic dictator (Saddam Hussein). And for restoring order and democracy to two countries, long in need of a political over haul.

I have not always agreed with everything you did, while in office. But I have always supported you. I voted for you both times, and would do so again, if the chance should present it's self.

I hope you have a good, and long life in retirement. You definitely deserve it.

How can you communicate with these people who seem to be out of touch with reality and rational thought?

PrideSource - Pink Pistols grow to 40 chapters: As unlikely as the combination of guns and gays may sound, the Pink Pistols have grown since their inception in 2000 to include over 40 chapters in the U.S. and one in Canada.

The article includes an interview with Dexter Guptill, coordinator of Virginia Pink Pistols. Phoenix members may remember hearing of Dex, who is pictured in our photo album at the NRA Museum.

Guptill has seen a cooperative spirit in Virginia between his group and other gun rights groups. “Its fun to watch peoples’ heads explode when you shatter their stereotypes.”

The story also touches on the negative reactions of other gay rights groups but ends with a positive statement by Al Lowe, coordinator of the Michigan Pink Pistols and the notorious author of “Big Gay Al’s Big Gay (Gun) Blog“:

“The goal is to get people interested in shooting,” said Lowe, adding that monthly gatherings of his group focus mostly on guns and less on LGBT politics. “It’s a relaxing form of recreation.”

So much for the name change idea

Ok, I've not had many responses to my previous post, but everyone has said I should keep the name, so that's what I'm gonna do.

On to the next subject. Blogtalkradio. In case you haven't noticed, there is a Blogtalkradio button, that takes you to where my "show" would be if it could get going. I've had a couple of false starts with it, and I'm still thinking how best to go ahead.

Here's the deal. I have to call into this from home, so I need peace and quiet. My two choices are while my boys are at school, OR late at night after every one else is asleep. For me, this gives me a choice of 4 days during the day time, or 3 specific nights. The days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and/or Friday. The nights are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. At night, I'm looking at sometime probably after 12:00 midnight Eastern time.

So, what does everyone think? Or should I just forget it?

Ok, so I've been thinking for some time that I might rename my blog. For more than a few reasons. But I guess I have to ask my (few?) loyal readers, is this a good idea or a bad idea?

The focus would still be guns, and for the most part, Right of Center politics, and, whenever I can find an appropriate subject, anything that would concern the Pink Pistols. And even some GLBT (or LGBT, if you prefer) subject matter as well.

If anyone has an opinion on this, please speak up. If I hear nothing, then I will most likely go ahead and change the name.

And just so you know, one of the reasons is, I'm hoping to draw a bigger readership. I think that some might be scared off by the name. But what do I know.

I've come to the conclusion that my previous pronouncement about Barack Obama being our first affirmative action president, is slightly off. In spite of what some other members of the VRWC think, I believe affirmative action had little to do with his selection. However, SELECTION is the key word. Obama was selected by the Main Stream Media (MSM) to be the next president. And make no mistake, they did everything in their power to see to it, that THEIR selection won.

This past election day, the people did not win. Not by a long shot. Instead, the self-appointed demagogues of the 4th Estate, they won. We the People, lost, big time.

Affirmative Action reaches new heights.

It occurred to me just a little while ago, that affirmative action has reached the pinnacle of success. We now have a President who has been elected by virtue of affirmative action. This cannot be denied.

He entered the political scene in 1997, when he was elected to the Illinois state senate. He remained in the Illinois senate until he was elected to the US Senate in 2004.

He took office in 2005. Two years into FIRST his senate term of 6 years, he announced his candidacy for President of the United States. This was on Feb. 10, 2007. He got to the top office in the land in a little over 10 years.

By contrast, JFK, of whom many Democrats like to compare BHO to, served in the US House of Representatives from 1947 to 1953, and then in the US Senate from 1953 to 1960, before being elected President. It took JFK 13 years, not counting his time in the US Navy.

Now, some might say that there's not much difference. But I will point out this. BHO's 10 years only include 3 in federal office. All 13 of JFK's are in federal office. As either a Representative, or Senator.

And I put it to you, had JFK tried running for President after just 2 years in either the House or the Senate, he would have been laughed out of the race.

So yes, Affirmative action had a hand in this last presidential race, whether anyone else wants to admit it or not.

Now, lest you think I'm prejudiced. I'll tell you straight out, I am. But it's not the color of his skin that bothers me. He could be red, brown, black, pink, or WHITE. I still would not have voted for him. It's his politics I'm against. I'll never vote for a socialist, a communist, a Marxist, or a gun grabber. I'm pretty sure he's all of those. But if I'm wrong, I know he is at least one of those.

All he wanted was to talk to his representative about a political issue — something supposedly guaranteed by the First Amendment’s right to petition clause. True, being an activist with the Minutemen and wanting to discuss concerns over criminal illegal alien activity wasn’t exactly something he expected would resonate with Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), but over the years, Gabriel Razzano had established a rapport with her chief of staff, who had even visited him at his home.

Except there was now a new chief, Razzano found out when he paid a visit to McCarthy’s office. And he didn’t return calls. So Razzano returned to McCarthy’s office to make an appointment, and this time was informed he was no longer one of her constituents due to reapportionment. They promised they’d straighten things out, but a week later, not having heard from them, he came back. They instructed him to go to the board of elections, which he did, returning with a “stamped official copy of his Certificate of Registration along with a Voter Registration Printout,” both confirming he was a McCarthy constituent. Without a doubt, Barack Obama has proven himself to be an enemy of the law abiding firearm owner. At the same time, Obama has proven himself to be a friend to the hardened criminal. While a state senator, Obama voted 4 times against legislation that would allow a homeowner to use a firearm in defense of home and family.

Does Barack Obama still sound to you like a "friend" of the law-abiding gun owner?

And speaking of friends, you can always tell a person by the company they keep. Obama counts among his friends the Rev. Michael Pfleger - a renegade Chicago priest who has openly called for the murder of gun shop owners and pro-gun legislators. Then there is his buddy Richard Daley, the mayor of Chicago who has declared that if it were up to him, nobody would be allowed to own a gun. And let's not forget Obama's pal George Soros - the guy who has pumped millions of dollars into the UN's international effort to disarm law-abiding citizens.

Obama has shown that he is more than willing to use other people's money to fund his campaign to take your guns away from you. While a board member of the leftist Joyce Foundation, Barack Obama wrote checks for tens of millions of dollars to extremist gun control organizations such as the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence
and the Violence Policy Center.

Does Barack Obama still sound to you like a "friend" of the law-abiding gun owner?

By now, I'm sure that many of you have received mailings from an organization called "American Hunters and Shooters Association(AHSA)" talking about what a swell fellow Obama is and how he honors the 2nd Amendment and how you will never have to worry about Obama coming to take your guns. Let me make it perfectly clear - everything the AHSA says about Obama is pure hogwash. The AHSA is headed by a group of left-wing elitists who subscribe to the British view of hunting and shooting. That is, a state of affairs where hunting and shooting are reserved for the wealthy upper-crust who can afford guided hunts on exclusive private reserves. The AHSA is not your friend, never will be.

In closing, I'd like to remind you that I'm a guy who has actually gone nose to nose with Obama on gun rights issues. The Obama I know cannot even begin to identify with this nation's outdoor traditions. The Obama I know sees you, the law abiding gun owner, as nothing but a low-class lummox who is easily swayed by the flash of a smile and a ration of rosy rhetoric. The Obama I know is a stony-faced liar who has honed his skill at getting what he wants - so long as people are willing to give it to him.

That's the Barack Obama I know.

As is TYPICAL of left wing loons, they miss the target. They go on and on about the fantasy ties of Sarah Palin to AIP (Alaska Independence Party) and most notably the gun ordinance that didn't go through while she was mayor of Wasilla.

She fomented an ultimately successful effort to derail a piece of local gun-control legislation which would simply have prohibited the open carry of firearms into schools, liquor stores, libraries, courthouses and the like. The people recruited to shout this ordinance down included these same figures, notably the local AIP representative (who became the AIP’s chairman that same year).

What they don't tell you is that by Alaska STATE law, the following places are off limits to Open Carry.

* Any Courthouse Housing ONLY Justice-Related Agencies
* Any Courtroom
* Any Licensed Child Care Facility
* Any Non-Private-Residence Assisted Living Facility
* Any Office of The Alaska Court System
* Bars
* K-12 School Buses
* K-12 School Grounds
* Private Residences Without Residents Permission
* Restaurants WHILE CONSUMING ALCOHOL
* State Funded Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault Shelters

On top of which, Alaska has complete State Preemption of All Firearm Laws. Meaning, no city, village, town, township or county level government can enact a local ordinance stronger than state law.

So, Daily Kos f*&ked up. But in all fairness, they are not alone. I've seen this same fantasy argument posted on other left wing loon sites.

I don't know about any of you, out there in the vast Aether, other wise known as the Internet, but I'm totally fed up with these stupid, schemes to get my money away from me that try to tell me that:

I've had it. I'm gonna start complaining about all these scams (that's what they are too) to whomever I can. I don't care if it's the FBI, CIA, or the Better Business Bureau, but someone is gonna get an earful, whether they can do anything about it, or not.

Let me tell you all, right now, in case you've considered signing up for any of these so-called "make money at home" scams, DO NOT fall for it. It will only cost you money, and probably money you can't afford to spend on scams right now.

Happy Hiroshima Day!!!

Sixty-three years ago today, August 6, 1945, the B-29, Enola Gay and her crew dropped the first Atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. This was followed 3 days later by the 2nd bomb on Nagasaki, Japan. With these two WMD's the 2nd World War came to an end.

It was a shame it had to happen, but it was also a shame the Japanese didn't take the offer to surrender when they could have. It was a shame they saw the offer to save face by keeping that great, UN-punished war criminal, Emperor Hirohito on the throne, as a sign of weakness.

If they hadn't. IF they had taken the last offer before the bombs were dropped, tens of thousands of lives could have been saved. As it was, it's estimated that millions were saved by the use of the atomic bombs.

So, unlike so many namby-pamby liberal weenies, I DO NOT apologize for the actions at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The events that happened there, were broght about by the Japanese themselves. IF they hadn't bombed Pearl Harbor and brought us into this war, it would not have happened.

IF they had accepted the last offer of surrender, it would not have happened. But they DID make the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, and they DID NOT accept the last offer to surrender that was given them, prior to the bombs being dropped. Too bad, so sad, I'm glad, because my dad didn't have to go to the Pacific, which he would have, if the bombs hadn't been dropped, but the war had continued. And if that had happened, I might not be here.

Not only are there people who are just plain against guns, making noise, but there are also some, who while in favor of gun ownership, and in favor of concealed carry, but are dead set against open carry.

It just seems odd to me, that a so-called "pro-2nd Amendment type" would be against someone exercising their constitutionally protected rights. I am always amazed at the attitude, and the "excuses" they bring up.

1. You'll be the bad guy's first target, because he'll see your gun.

The reality is, if you're out and about in public, and open carrying your pistol, most likely, if a bad guy is about to commit a crime, and sees your gun, he's more likely to seek out a safer target than risk you shooting him.

2. You're giving away the tactical advantage of surprise.

Maybe, then again, you've got the advantage of a faster draw available to you. The plain truth is, by openly carrying your pistol, you've got more deterrent effect than carrying concealed. And I always the thought the idea of carrying a gun for self defense was in the hope you'd never need to use it. It seems to me, that with OC, you're cutting down on the possibility of ever needing to actually use it for self defense.

3. The police will hound you.

Depends on where you live, but this actually has a little bit of truth. Some police departments, in states where OC (Open Carry) is legal, need more education on this subject. Or else they need better Chiefs.

I happen to have a Concealed Pistols License. Which oddly enough, will let me OPEN carry in places I can't carry concealed due to the stupid way the law was written. By law, and thanks to State Attorney General's Opinion 7113, I can openly carry in a school, hospital, bar, a sports arena or stadium, a day care center, and a host of other places that are off limits to open carry without a CPL, and are off limits to concealed carry WITH a CPL.

Doesn't make must sense, does it.

Well, that's state lawmakers for you.

Cindy Sheehan for Congress? I think I'm gonna puke

Yes, that's right, The People's Email Network is collecting funds to support the traitor, Cindy Sheehan for Congress critter. It's not like the US Congress doesn't lean to the left enough, they want to see it topple completely to the left.

I mean, would you vote for THIS person????

She is no patriot, as evidenced by her actions, since the tragic death of her son in Iraq. She might as well spit on her son's grave, for all the work she's done since his death. You really have to wonder if she really wears the T-Shirt below.

Her son must be turning over in his grave. I know, if my mother did something like this, I'd find a way to come back from the dead and haunt her. But my mother would have NEVER done anything so un-patriotic, as to give comfort and support to our enemy.

I only hope she comes to her senses before it's too late.

Heller's registration application rejected?!?!?!

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- District residents can start registering their guns today. But at least one very high profile application was already rejected.

Dick Heller is the man who brought the lawsuit against the District's 32-year-old ban on handguns. He was among the first in line Thursday morning to apply for a handgun permit.

But when he tried to register his semi-automatic weapon, he says he was rejected. He says his gun has seven bullet clip. Heller says the City Council legislation allows weapons with fewer than eleven bullets in the clip. A spokesman for the DC Police says the gun was a bottom-loading weapon, and according to their interpretation, all bottom-loading guns are outlawed because they are grouped with machine guns.

Ok, WHAT is wrong with this picture? I'll tell you, a pistol, taking a magazine from the bottom, that fires one shot for each time you pull the trigger, is NOT a machine gun!!! What IDIOT wrote that law? I hope, whoever it was, he's now dead. Because if he's not, he should be taken out and shot for aggravated, felony stupidity.

For some odd reason, I see a return to court on this one. And I hope it's soon. DC is NOT in compliance with the SCOTUS decision

It's NOT Vigilantism, it's SELF DEFENSE!!

But Sgt. Nick Muyo, public information officer for the San Jose Police Department, believes more violence is exactly what could happen, and cautions against any inklings towards vigilantism.

Why is it, when normal, everyday citizens talk about arming themselves for self-defense, some of those in Law Enforcement or the anti-rights groups like the Brady Campaign, call it vigilantism? Ok, granted, the people in the story linked by the title above, may not qualify as normal by most of the straight community, but still. This is a problem I have seen repeated again and again.

Here's another example, from April 24, of this year (2008).

Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin this morning led a group of two dozen public officials, business leaders and workers in a plea directed at Sonny Perdue, asking the governor to veto a gun bill that would permit licensed concealed weapons to be carried on public transportation, in restaurants that serve alcohol, and in parks.

Prospects of vigilantism were raised by MARTA head Beverly Scott. And MARTA workers said they’re already passing around a petition to demand bullet-proof partitions for bus drivers and train operators should Perdue sign the bun bill into law.

Why is it, that defending one's self, a Basic Human Right, is seen as vigilantism? I guess it's one of the few arguments the anti-self defense crowd has left that they think will sway those who sit on the fence regarding this issue. Even in the "Old West" they knew the difference between self defense and vigilantism.

And speaking of the old west, I also get tired of that comment, when anti-rights people claim a "return to the old/wild west" with blood in the streets and such. If you check the actual statistics for the "wild west" you'll find that other than the Indian wars, crime was much lower than it is today. Old Dodge City was imminently safer than modern day Chicago. It's too bad we can't return to at least the crime rate of the old west.

The argument for Open Carry

I have read many responses to the idea of "Open Carry" with regard to pistols. I've seen anti-2nd amendment types get all hysterical over it, and I've seen so-called pro-2nd amendment types get equally as hysterical also. I've read posts in various forums both pro and con, and some even arguing that the recent decision by the US Supreme Court ONLY affects Washington DC.

What I see as having been virtually ignored is that as stated numerous times, (in numerous places) the 2nd Amendment does not give us the right to keep and bear arms, any more than any state law or state constitution does. The 2nd amendment merely protects that right. Whether or not any state law or constitution says so, we still have the right to self-defense, and as an extension, the tools necessary to exercise those rights.

We still have the right to keep and bear arms, even without the 2nd Amendment. Just as we also have the right to free speech, freedom of religion, trial by a jury of our peers, the right to not testify against ourselves.

But it seems that government isn't the only entity that has forgotten those rights. Many of us, have forgotten them also. And this is in spite of all the amendments and the Constitution.

How many of us have run into US law enforcement officers, under the mistaken impression that if there isn't a law saying we can do something, then it must be illegal? Where do they get this idea? Where does anyone get the idea that a right not granted by law, doesn't exist?

It still exists, but if we don't properly exercise our rights, we will lose them, by ignorance, as well as by legislation. If for no other reason than this, we must press on for open carry, and eliminate any bans that exist.

States rights should not usurp the rights of the individual citizen. The idea of free, elected governments is to serve the citizens, not rule them. If we are ruled, then we are not free. If we are not free, we are not citizens. If we are not citizens, we are slaves.

The Day After

Well, here it is, the day after the Heller Vs. DC decision, and the country has not turned into a massive "Wild West shootout." Gee, imagine that.

But, I have to say, I am disappointed, though not surprised about the call from the Chicago Tribune to repeal the 2nd Amendment. Maybe we should also repeal the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments too, and make slavery legal again. After all, that's pretty much what they're purposing.

And when you look at it, that's what the Left Wing wants to do to those of use, who are not the "elite" elected. i.e., not one of the controllers. Oh, to be sure, they don't want us as field slaves. Oh no. We're all supposed to be treated as, dare I say it? House niggers. Yes, we'll be treated a bit better than the field hands were. We'll be cared for, from the womb to the tomb. But if we get out of line, you can be sure we'll get flogged.

But what do I know? I'm just a bitter American clinging to my religion and my guns.

I guess only left wingers need respond

I use google to search for a lot of things. One of those things are any news stories or blog posts about concealed carry items. Well, I found a blog post on the recent Students for Concealed Carry's latest effort to get the laws changed so that those of us with CCW permits would be allowed to protect our selves on school/university property.

This "movement" took root last year after the debacle at Virginia Tech. There are many who suggest that had even one of the students who have a valid CCW permit, had been allowed to carry his or her weapon, that the killer might have been stopped much sooner.

Then again, there are those who think the death toll might have been even higher. I guess they haven't seen the stories about the school shootings that were cut short by armed students and faculty. Then again, it's not like the MSM (Main Stream Media) covers those stories with any great frequency. After all, there is little news if no one is killed.

In any event, if you click on the title of this article, it will take you to another blog, and a specific opinion, "Sheer Folly." I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. He is, after all, seeking a major in philosophy. :) In any event, rather than repeat much or, any of his musings here, I'll leave it to you, my readers (sparse though you may be) to check it out for yourselves.

As to any of his conclusions, I'll simply point you to GunFacts for the truth.

As far as replies to his original post, I'll only state that I know there's at least one other post that has not yet been approved as of the date this message was first posted. Why not? Probably because I point out that CCW permit holders are generally more law-abiding than the general public. Those who would take away our rights, don't like to be told that some of their ideas and conclusions might be wrong.
