President George Bush is out of it now, and there is not another good man for you to vilify and lie about. In a way I am relieved that another good man will not be blamed when it was impossible to clean up this mess you voted for. Have a good day. God bless the United States. God is still our hope.

Cowardly Taliban shoot defenseless girl

According to a story posted on NPR's blog, a young girl who wrote a diary about life under the Taliban, was targeted by the Taliban for what she did. And what she did was expose the cruelty of the Taliban. How they burned down all the girl's schools in the Swat valley of Pakistan, while they were in control, among all the other evil acts they have committed and still commit. She also wrote about how she secretly still attended school by hiding books in her clothing.

The good news, she's not dead and will likely recover, although it may mean a trip to another country (USA?) for treatment. The bad news, the Taliban cowards say they'll target her again.

Going Hunting? Get Training!!!

If you live in California, and you like to hunt, you have my condolences.  But, if you've never hunted before, you should consider a hunter safety course.  Seriously.  It can mean the difference between life and death.  Anyone, who's never been hunting, regardless of how long they've been around firearms, should take one.  And, check your state laws, it might be required to get your hunting license!

Health Update

Just so you know, I'm not dead.....not yet anyway.  On July 14, 2012, I checked into Sparrow hospital in Lansing, MI.  At the time I had several things going on.  Cellulitis for one, and as I suspected, several other serious infections.

They put me in isolation, pumped me full of anti-biotics, and operated on my left knee and right foot to remove several serious abscesses.  The surgeon's hope is this will help save both legs from amputation.

I'm told there are still several abscesses in my right leg, below the knee, but apparently they're not serious enough to warrant surgery.  In any event, I'm now staying at the Ovid Health Center, in Ovid.  A small, one horse town, that doesn't have a Hungry Howies I could order from.  I don't think there's even a McDonald's in town.

They got wound vacs on my injuries, which seem to be accelerating the healing process.  My hope is they'll let me go home to stay soon.  Right now, I can go home for a few hours, but living in Mason, makes it a bit of a drive to go home very often.

Here's hoping I'm home soon, and can post more.  I promise, my next one will be about guns, and/or politics.

Gun Free School Zones? What a joke

Is it just me, or does the Gun Free School Zones act of 1995 seem useless to you too? I mean, just how effective has it been? Between 1996 and 2010, there have been forty-five (45) school related shootings in the USA. Seems to me that the GFSZ is NOT working very well. All it's done is create a false sense of security. Oh, and it keeps the law-abiding citizen from legally carrying his or her firearm for self defense, near a school.

Some people will say (and have said) "Why do you need a gun at a school?" Well, how about we ask the victims of the 45 school shootings how they would have felt, IF someone OTHER than the killers had been in legal possession of a firearm at the time?

Oops, sorry, can't ask most of them. Because they're DEAD!

Help Support Gun Facts

For years, Gunfacts has been totally free. Now, Guy Smith, the author/compiler/whatever you want to call him, is asking for help. Considering how useful Gunfacts have always been, I'd think we should have been donating years ago.

Check out the fundraiser page by clicking on the link to the left, or the title of this blog post. You'll see that you can get some pretty good perks for your donation. Do it today, ok?

And do me a favor, if you found the Gunfacts Fundraiser through this site, just add a note to Guy telling him. I don't get anything for this, we just like to know.

Today is my....

Today is my birthday. (boo, hiss) Normally, on my birthday, or sometime shortly before or after it, I usually buy myself a new firearm. This year, I'm going to buy a new (meaning used) car.

But, if I have enough left over from my income tax refund, I will buy myself a firearm too.

Hopefully, I'll have something more substantial to post a little later on.....presuming I don't get drunk off my ass, and fall in a ditch. :)

HOMICIDE RATE DROPS WHILE
GUN OWNERSHIP RISES

HOMICIDE DROP WHILE GUN OWNERSHIP RISES SHOWS ANTI-GUNNERS WRONG, SAYS CCRKBA

BELLEVUE, WA – This week’s revelation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that homicide is no longer among the leading causes of death in the United States – at a time when gun ownership is at an all-time high – shows that the gun ban lobby has been wrong, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

“The CDC’s report for 2010 that removes homicide from the top 15 leading causes of death in this country coincides with a period of record high gun ownership,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “At the same time, increasing numbers of citizens have obtained concealed carry permits and licenses. This is pretty strong evidence that rising gun ownership does not translate to more violence and murder.”

Gottlieb, co-author of the newly-released SHOOTING BLANKS: Why Facts Don’t Matter to the Gun Ban Crowd with Dave Workman, noted that the CDC has long been a source of data exploited by gun prohibitionists.

“I wonder how anti-gunners will try to spin this report,” he mused. “Gun control extremists will have a hard time explaining how, after years of repeated predictions and warnings that more guns in private hands will result in more mayhem, that homicides are no longer among the top causes of death in the United States.

“Gun banners can’t have it both ways,” Gottlieb continued. “If the data had shown murders on the increase, you can bet your life savings that they would be screaming ‘We told you so!’ on every front page in America.”

Gottlieb said the CDC report is just one more demonstration of how wrong anti-gunners have been in their campaign of fear against private gun ownership.

“This new information correlates with national crime trends over the past few years, showing declining violent crime while gun ownership has increased,” he concluded. “You simply can no longer demonize gun ownership or the Second Amendment as a leading cause of crime.”

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States.
