It is a Rock Island Armory M1911-A1FS, caliber .45ACP. Yes, it's nickel plated and shiny as all get out.
And no, that stuff near the muzzle is not some marring, it's a reflection.

Seriously, the 1911 is not my favorite but that one is certainly a pretty example of the genus. The fact that Rock Island Armory guns are pretty much stock GI with some minor tolerance cleanups is a plus IMO.
