Disabled New Yorker defends herself with a gun...and she's NOT ARRESTED!!!

Yup, that's right. A woman in a wheel chair, used a properly permitted .357 magnum revolver to fend of a mugger in NEW YORK CITY!!! Her would be mugger got a slug in the elbow, treated at a hospital, and is now facing charges robbery....again.

You can find the story if you click on the heading of this posting, above. And also at This link.

What I find amazing, the would be victim, Ms. Johnson, is the step-daughter of Harlem gangster Ellsworth "Bumpy" Johnson, and she STILL received a premises permit in draconian New York City! According to the story on the Gothamist, she got it when she was a bus driver. A job from which she is now retired.

Honestly, I don't begrudge Ms. Johnson her pistol permit. I just wish it was easier for law-abiding Citizens, like Ms. Johnson to get pistol permits in NYC. I think it's just HORRIBLE that Mayor Bloomberg doesn't see the advantage. But then he wouldn't. He's already got his own personal police bodyguard.

Great story, were it not for the "permit" thingy. Ugh.

Yeah, at least they're not likely to prosecute her. I'd have thought they might since her permit was a "premises permit" but since she was on her way to the target range, I guess that's what got her off the hook. Though I wonder if she really was going to the range.
